I’ve been working in payroll since 1988. I started out as the Payroll Supervisor at Oracle Corporation. Over the years I worked for various companies and in my last corporate job was the Sr. Manager of Disbursements, responsible for both payroll and accounts payable.

I became an independent payroll consultant in 2001. Since then I’ve worked on projects for small companies, mid-size corporations and companies with 20,000+ employees. I have led payroll projects for payroll system implementations, system conversions, outsourcing, and time and attendance implementations. I have also advised companies on payroll accounting and procedural improvements.

I became eligible to take the CPP exam in 1992 at which time I passed the exam on my first try. I served on the APA Certification Advisory Group from 1997-1998. I recertified using continuing education until 2007 when I decided to retake the exam.

I drew on my years of payroll knowledge, my B.S. in Accounting and past experiences taking the CPP exam to write The Practical CPP Study Guide.
